- 1 cup grits
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
In a 2-1/2 quart saucepan, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the grits are soft, not stiff and not soupy. If they become too stiff, add a little hot water.
Serve with butter, margarine or gravy.
This goes good with eggs, ham, and sausage.
Makes 6-8 servings.
